School History
Bukit View Primary School was established in 1986, together with the start of Bukit Batok New Town as one of its first schools. The school’s Chinese name 百德小学 likely came from one of the region’s Chinese public schools, 培德公立学校 Pei Tek Public School, which started in 1946 and was a popular school in the 1960s-70s.
We used to have only two classroom blocks, with a third built in 2001 during PRIME. Known for teaching excellence, caring culture, and character development through aesthetics, we were one of five prototype schools in 2009 to experiment with innovative pedagogies and used drama to develop students’ curiosity, confidence and collaboration. We were recognised as the Centre of Excellence for Aesthetics in the West Zone in 2011. Since then, we have developed our own brand of Learn for Life Programme that develops students’ character, 21st century competencies and foundations towards excellence.
In 2023, it was announced that the school will move to a brand-new campus at Bukit Batok West Ave 8 in 2027 to better support its increasing population.
